Today I will show you the second antique doll quilt from the batch, previously shown in this post,
that I received in London last month.

I think that brown, beige and pink are perfectly matching colors, one of my favorite antique fabrics blends.

Nice white and blue calicot and nice hand quilting.

I am a great fan of Beatrix Potter art, and those little books are remains from my childhood.

For those who may be interested in Beatrix Potter art and life, I recommend this excellent film : Miss Potter, with Renee Zellweger in the role of Beatrix Potter. I was so delighted when I first saw this film, that I watched it again and again... This is one of my best films ever!

Antique Quilts and Antique Doll Quilts from USA

Arriving in London last month, I had the good surprise to find that my parcel was there, waiting for me!

I had bought auction on ebay two antique quilts and a collection of doll and crib quilts and I was expecting them eagerly! Happy to see that they were even more beautiful than expected! I will lay them and take pictures soon, to show them to you. I think that little by little I begin to become a quilt collector! By the way, there is a question that I would like not to be asked again : "But what are you going to do with them". I wonder why this question about quilts and not about other kinds of collections...

I love this picture I took in Portobello Road. Inspiring colors, aren't they? I am crazy about those small houses! This street belongs to Notting Hill Gate district - London. There was shot this lovely film "Notting Hill", with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. In fact when you walk in London it's often like being in a film. Some places are so wonderful... a dream of a city!!!

Quilts at Liberty's

Arriving at London, first thing : visiting Liberty shop. There is no way that I would not go there, even with a flu, even with fever! Somewhat crazy when I think of it! Anyway, here I am in front of my favorite department store,  the most stunning and charming place!

A short history about this London shop in Regent street : It was founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, a pioneer spirit.

It was selling mainly art items and fabrics from Japan and East. It became quickly the most fashionable place to shop in London, and the Liberty fabrics well-known all-over the world.

Personnaly I am crazy about this architecture. The inside decoration is called Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau, and is so beautiful and interesting! This luxury shop was growing and was added in 1920 the extraordinary Tudor Building, built with timbers of two ships.

When you walk inside, you have a kind of feeling like being at home, going from a small wooden room to another. Some rooms even still have fire places! Some lifts are antique, in wooden curved oak.

Back home!

Luggage

Back home again in Athens. Apart from this horrible flu, I had a wonderful time in London with my sons and grand son. The weather was beautiful, sunshine every day! I visited museums, shops, tea-rooms... brought back some "treasures" from London... All this in a next post. Now I am ready to go on with my quilting occupations and to meet my quilting bee friends.
