New Quilt Project

It has been a long time since I started a new quilting project. Missing quilting...

After reorganizing my closet I found various leftovers, among which those solid colors, and I wonder wether they could match or not in a new quilt. I am thinking of a simple and quickly sewn quilt like a nine patch or a four patch.

I love the four patch quilts but I always found the most difficult to match the colors, and was often disappointed with the result. Sometimes the most simple things are the most difficult to succeed in.

As regards my fabric shelves, I am very satisfied with my idea of sewing a curtain to protect the fabrics from the sun and the light. I had an old blackout curtain not in use anymore that I cut into the size of the shelves then fixed three clamps and hanged it on three nails.

After the efforts the reward : time for a big slice of Italian Panettone... with a cup of coffee!!!

Knots

My Scrappy Log Cabin top is finished, basted as shown here and tied with knots.

The border is machine sewn as shown here. 

Folded and put in my quilting bag, ready to be taken with me tomorrow to our Monday's meeting, where I will sew the border by hand as shown here.

I add this pictures for the ones interested in the knot method I used for tying this quilt.

I found it in a French book, but I suppose you can find it in English on the web. Although it is understandable just by looking at the pictures.

It is called the Pompom Stitch because, once the quilt washed, it will look like a pompom.

Knitting vintage catalogue

My blue jacket is almost finished and I hesitate between starting a new knitting or a new quilt.

I have this beautiful block that was rejected from my Folklore quilt, and since I put it away I had in mind to do something with it one day, as I love the fabrics and pink is my favorite color. I am thinking of working around this block with same tunes but different blocks. 

By the time I write this I find out that I better take the time to develop a clear project and thus I will rather go on knitting for a while. I have got new Rowan yarns and I may knit a cloth for my second two months grandson. This magazine is an old vintage one that my mother was using to knit for my sister and me. I have already used several times those patterns of the 50's and found them perfect, classical and so smart!

Luggage

Back home again in Athens. Apart from this horrible flu, I had a wonderful time in London with my sons and grand son. The weather was beautiful, sunshine every day! I visited museums, shops, tea-rooms... brought back some "treasures" from London... All this in a next post. Now I am ready to go on with my quilting occupations and to meet my quilting bee friends.

A Spring Quilting Project

These days in Athens there is a kind of perfume of spring. The sky is bright and sun shining. With such a kind weather, someone can only wake up in the morning with a smile on the face and the brain full of joyful plans! As far as I am concerned, projects usually draw me towards painting or quilting. So today I decided to go to my garden and take some pictures of the few blossoms and flowers, as flowers are always a source of inspiration either for watercolor painting or creating a new quilt. Therefore I chose these fabrics, full of lovely and bright colors, with many flower prints, reflecting the mood of the time!

Observing the perfect combination of colors in nature gives you a sense of creation with harmony.

Monday's group

This week we met at Eleni's house in Psychikon, a north suburb of Athens.

Eleni is working on the prepation of a craft sale. She is very creative, I love her work.

As every year at this time the craft sales started, and it is always a real pleasure for me to

admire the wonderful skills, and to make my Christmas shopping there.
