She loved it and offered it to her grand-daughter.

Flying Geese Binding

My baby girl quilt came back from Eleni's quilting, and I am preparing it for binding as shown in

I machine sew the border on the front side, and then I hand sew it on the wrong side.

Flying Geese Top and Backing

Back to my low volume baby quilt.

 Flying Geese top and backing finished.

I am quite satisfied with the soft feeling given by those tunes.

For the backing I used two fabrics, recalling those of the top.

My basket obsession!

Summer is becoming very hot here in Greece, and it allows me to sew only very early in the morning. I feel sorry I cannot go on at my usual rythm. I have so many projects in mind... and other baby quilts to prepare,
grand-children (mine and friend's) being on the way, one after the other...

I wish you all a mild summer that allows you to sew and to quilt!

Preparation of a baby girl quilt, as shown in this tutorial.

I selected soft tunes of variegated pinks, and neutral hues of beige, from taupe to white.

Cutting the fabrics.

A few days later : a first attempt to organize my blocks on the design board.

Tutorial for an Easy and Quick Flying Geese Block

With the measures I will give you, you will obtain a four units Flying Geese block

10" x 5 3/4" (once trimed).

Cut ONE large square 6 1/2" for the 4 centre triangles

and FOUR 3 1/2" for the 8 (what I call) background triangles.

With a sharp pencil draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each small square.

Place two small squares on the big square, right side against right side, as shown above.

Sew along each side of the line, at 1/4".

Cut on the line.

This is what you obtain.

Open and press.

On each obtained piece place one square, right side against right side.

Again, sew at 1/4" on each side of the line and cut on the line.

Doing so, you obtain four rectangles 5 3/4" x 3 1/8".
Trim the sides.

Piece them together. Press without opening.
Then trim the four sides to get a  perfect 10" x 5 3/4" rectangle.
