Simple Organic Baby Quilt

Organic backing

Wool batting

As soon as I finished my Double Four Patch top I started a new baby quilt. How pleasant it is to work on a quick and simple project!

Last week my third grandson was born and I am going to visit my son's family in London next November and bring the quilt with me. To start this quilt I have been waiting to learn wether the baby would be a boy or a girl, as I wanted to make one really boyish or girlish. Thus the project had to be very quickly done.

I chose printed organic fabrics with blue and white bears and a dotty blue and white fabric for the backing. The batting is 100% wool.

For the quilting beginners I am preparing a tutorial for this baby quilt from A to Z, with all the measurements.

Shot Cottons

Shot cottons

I am always thrilled when I receive an expected arrival of fabrics from the USA!

Parcel from USA

And always happy and enthusiastic to start a new project!

Shot cottons

I am not sure yet for the pattern, but being in a blue mood I feel like trying variegated hues of blue,
which is a color I don't tend to put often in my quilts. I may mix them with warm tunes with spice
names like saffron, paprika, mustard...

Blue shot cotton

I was lucky, I found two jackpots, which means some more yardage for the same price!
I was unlucky, I had to pay tax!

Happy sewing to everybody!

Patchwork Baby Curtain

Baby curtain

Today, just showing a curtain I sewed for my grand son's bedroom. I bought 1m 50 of ecru cotton
fabric (width 2m40).
I used the leftovers from this baby quilt and from this baby bumper to sew a decorative band.
The squares are the same size as for the nine patch blocks of the baby quilt.
I think that this will give the last touch of harmony to the bedroom.
Next picture when the curtain will be hanged on the window (first we have to buy the pole).

Greetings from London.

Antique woolen quilt

I took those pictures yesterday in Michele's garden in Halandri.
Michele is a member of our quilting group and is the owner
of this wonderful patchwork, which she bought years ago in
California.
