Vintage Toys on Antique Doll Quilt

Another passion of mine is for vintage toys, memories of my youth. My sister and me were very spoilt little girls with too many toys, but unfortunately our mother was "decluttering" obsessed and therefore was giving away all our stuff when not needed anymore. Not a single toy was saved!

Those boyish sweet toys belong to my friend Michele from our quilting group. I borrowed them to take pictures to share with you such little treasures... of course displayed on an antique doll quilt!

Vintage Aprons

My love for aprons must have its source in this first one I embroidered for my mother when I was six years old, on the opportunity of the Mothers' Day Celebration. Our school teacher brought the aprons in the class room and taught us the embroidery skill. I can still remember the incredible feeling of pleasure I had doing this embroidery, and the great satisfaction after realizing that I was able to do myself such a "chef d'oeuvre"... needless to say the extreme proudness I felt when offering it to my mother!! The funny thing is that she used it all her life, and I can still remember her in the kitchen wearing this apron. I think she never had another one!

The second apron was done and used by my mother-in-law. Kind of charming patchwork.

I had myself sewn many aprons of all sorts in the past. Here is My daughter's apron.

Vintage Doll Clothes

This post is a tribute to my talented mother. All the knittings where done by her. She used to knit our pullovers, jackets... and after some calculations (that I would be unable to do) she was reducing the sizes and knitting the same clothes for my little doll. I loved to see my doll dressed like me! Coming back from school I was so happy to have the surprise of finding those sweet little things on my bed. 

The first year I went skiing my mother knitted for me and my doll this cute jumper with its bonnet.

The first two pictures show some other doll clothes from my childhood. 

All those little doll clothes are the only remains, rescued from the clearing away obsession of my mother. My little favorite doll was given, as well as all my toys. I wish I still had them, they were such treasures!

Today I decided to lay my little quilts and to take pictures to share them with you. This is the first one of the batch I received, and I think it is my favorite one because of its very naive look. I don't know, but it gives me the impression that it was done by a little girl with the scraps of her mother.

I love those fabrics and the pink knots.

Vintage sewing machine

I decorated this corner of my room with a vintage child sewing machine presented on the doll quilt.

I do love pink and buy a lot of tunes of this color.

dress I thought it would make a beautiful 

box for my sewing stuff.
