Liberty of London

Visiting London means for me visiting Liberty shop at the first place. The most wonderful shop! I love everything there, the atmosphere, the antique architecture, the products they sell and most of all the fabrics. I used fill my suitcase with Liberty of London fabrics!

My last creations : a crib baby quilt and a cloud pillow.

I find the Liberty of London fabric perfectly well adapted for babies, due to its extreme softness.
As well so elegant!

You can find those items and many others here : yayaCousette

Liberty Soft Toy Rabbit

Time flies... already more than a year since I last came to my blog!!!

For me, as for everybody, life was not easy lately... and all those events brought many changes in our way of life.

However good things also happened : I now have five wonderful grand children, four boys and a girl and I mainly sew for them and for the family newborns. There are so many pleasant projects to create for babys, and they are so quickly done! It's such a pleasure to have a quick result. Therefore I am not working on big quilts anymore.

I did several baby quilts, and small items such as soft toys and bed accessories, as you can see on the above pictures.

Sewing makes us forget all (or almost) the troubles of life!! 😀

All those above items can be bought from my new Etsy shop yayaCousette CLICK

Paris

Paris

Here are the pictures of my Herringbone baby quilt finished and offered to my niece in Paris.
The gray color recalls Paris' sky, the blue is for the baby boy and the yellow gives a sunny touch.

For this quilt I did 80 blocks of 4.5" x 4.5 each (11.5 cm)
To make the triangles I cut strips of 5" wide (12.7 cm) from each color, then squares of 5" (12.7 cm) and then cut diagonal to obtain 2 triangles.

The final size of the finished quilt is 32" x 40" (81.5 x 101.5 cm)

As I was so busy this week, I regret, for those waiting for the tutorial of this baby quilt, that I did not succeed in writing it this week as foreseen, and therefore I will publish it in my next post. Still happy I managed to finish the little quilt for my third grandson born last month!

Wonderful week-end to all of you!

You have seen the progress of this quilt here, and here. Also, the tutorial for it was published in FAVEQUILTS magazine. If you are interested, you will find all the measurements and details in this tutorial. For my tutorial : CLICK

I used several grey fabrics from the collection Sketch from Timeless Treasures.
For the backing : Sketch Ivory from Timeless Treasures.
For the binding : Cloud 9, from Elizabeth Olwen,  Grey Abbey Organic Gentile Vines Dandelion.
For the batting I used a thin organic cotton one.

This quilt will be used as a light blanket for spring and autumn. For next winter I plan to make a warmer one, and for this purpose, I would welcome any advice on a warm and fluffy batting quality from you.

Many people were suspicious on using grey color for a baby quilt, but in fact I believe that, as babies' rooms are always overcrowded with lively colored toys, adding again colors in a quilt would be somewhat tiring for the eyes. However I allowed myself to make it less dull by adding a glittering yellow border.
