Last week my sister came to visit me in Athens and I offered her birthday present : the Log Cabin quilt. As you can see on the picture, she is so happy with it! She will hang it on the main wall of her lounge in her house near the sea. When she will send me pictures of it, I will post them here.
We had a great time visiting Athens with a friend and my daughter, the weather was marvellous. We enjoyed some great walks through the old streets of Athens, in the museums... On some pictures you can see the hill of Acropolis.
The Marottes I show in the last two pictures are presents my sister brought me from Paris. She found them in an antique shop. They are antiques from the end of the nineteenth century and at that time they were displayed in the shop windows to present hats. I love them and I think that they give a very special dramatic effect to my room.
Cheers.
Christine

  13. So glad you shared this on Pat Sloan's Facebook page, I'm just at the point of quilting a blue and white log cabin myself and have been looking for quilting ideas. Your quilting is just straight lines, right? Also, so awesome that you got to visit Athens!

  24. Love the quilt - obviously you were inspired by Greece with all that white and blue! I like the marottes as well, but I don't think I'd put them in the bedroom - wouldn't want the three of them staring at me in the night! :)

  26. Oh my goodness, I love the Marottes your sister brought you! They look like something you would only see in a museum to me. They are so striking and interesting! I am very glad that you explained what they were. The Marottes are such a fine gift. But of course, she received a very fine gift also! Your blue quilt is stunning, beautiful. I think it's placement near the sea sounds so perfect for such a special quilt. i was fortunate to bring a group of students one time to Greece and we loved it. I wish I could have seen more, but I was so lucky to get to see any of it. I would love to revisit Greece someday with more time. Anyway, thank you for sharing on your blog!

  31. Christine, I knew this quilt was yours before I even clicked the link from Let's Bee Social. This is one of my favorite log cabins! It will look wonderful they way your sister want to display it and how fitting that it will be by the sea. I was curious about the Marottes your sister gave you. Are they papier-mâché?
