I did this quilt about five years ago. I had found the pattern in an old book from Better Homes and Gardens called "Quilting pieces of the Past". Being a fan of baskets, when I saw the picture of this quilt I "fell in love" with it at first sight! I had a lot of brown fabrics and scraps in my stash and thought it would be a good opportunity to use them. For each basket I used a different fabric.

The quilt is single bed size and is machine pieced, machine quilted and hand applique.

This little doll quilt was part of this batch I received last year from USA. It is the most precious one to me because of the very special fabrics in it. Some of them represent scenes from the Far-West, including gold fabrics used often to recall the California Gold Rush! Although antique, the colors remained very fresh... such a sweet little quilt!

The size is 22" x 16". It is hand quilted.

Poppies

This post is a tribute to my talented mother. All the knittings where done by her. She used to knit our pullovers, jackets... and after some calculations (that I would be unable to do) she was reducing the sizes and knitting the same clothes for my little doll. I loved to see my doll dressed like me! Coming back from school I was so happy to have the surprise of finding those sweet little things on my bed.

The first year I went skiing my mother knitted for me and my doll this cute jumper with its bonnet.

The first two pictures show some other doll clothes from my childhood.

All those little doll clothes are the only remains, rescued from the clearing away obsession of my mother. My little favorite doll was given, as well as all my toys. I wish I still had them, they were such treasures!

This quilt has a story... again. A friend of mine did it for her daughter, but as it took her some time, by the time she almost finished it her daughter had become a teenager and did not want anymore pink in her bedroom. So my friend gave this lovely hexagon quilt to me, and I finished it for my own daughter who was still a child at that time. She enjoyed it until she became a teenager and changed as well her color choices for her bedroom.

This quilt is hand sewn and hand quilted "in the ditch", it is single bed size.

The fabrics are Laura Ashley's.
