For this baby quilt you will find all the measurements here.

Instead of hand quilting, I thought of tying this quilt with knots for a change, as I already did twice in the past : here and here. This way of binding, plus the very light poly batting, gives as a result a very fluffy, light and comfy baby quilt. I am really very pleased with it! And I think that the knots bring a funny touch for a baby.

As I told you before, there are three babys to be born in my circle. This quilt is for the first one, expected next July : a little girl. I am pleased I finished it, so that I can bring it with me to France next month. The two other babys, one boy and one we don't know yet boy or girl, will appear in autumn, so I will  prepare their quilts when I come back from France, end of August.

Toy on string quilt

Yesterday early in the morning I decided not to start my day with any housework, but instead to sew the baby bumper for my grandson. It took me less than one hour to achieve it. I took pictures step by step and in my next post I will write the tutorial : I thought it may help beginners to do it the simplest way.
I brought this bumper to my daughter who was pleased to get it at last and we fixed it in the crib. Baby seems to enjoy it... not for long as he is growing so fast that we shall have to buy a bigger bed soon... and to sew a new bumper!
Baby received many beautiful presents as this Beatrix Potter porcelain tableware, and this cute elephant matching perfectly with the quilt I offered my daughter last summer.

Crib Bumper Project

Fabrics

Baby fabric

Baby fabric

My second grandson is already two month old and I did not manage to sew either his bumper, or his baby quilt... too much work and visitors during the Christmas holidays.. and after! I will try to start these days. First step I decided for the fabrics : the mushroom fabric will be for the crib bumper and the grey ones for the quilt. (My daughter's choice).

Mushrooms fabrics

I chose this cute fabric for the baby's crib bumper.

For the baby's bed I thought of a windmill pattern with these shades of grey.

These days are very busy getting everything ready for the birth of my daughter's first child,
forseen begining of December!

Cheers!

This Sunday I am going to line my little crib blanket that I finished knitting. For this I will hand sew
a Liberty fabric on the back, using a silk thread that is very pleasant to use for a slipping stitch .

I am linking up with Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Enjoy your slow stitching!
