Kids Christmas Crafts

Two of my five grand children who are living here in Greece came visit us for the week end. It was such a happiness to see them so joyful and enthusiastic for preparing Christmas! My six years old grand-son and my four years old grand-daughter helped me baking the French traditional Christmas cookies : sablés de Noël. After what, with the help of their father, they cut some paper ornaments and garlands, and hanged them on the tree. It is the first time I let the children decorate the Christmas tree without interfering and I must say that they did a very good job!

The Christmas Stars quilt is the second quilt I did years ago and it's always a pleasure to see it again at this time of the year. You can see several detailed pictures of it in a previous post : Click.

Happy New Year 2015!

This first morning of the year started very nice and cosy with breakfast and then knitting next to a beautiful fire. It is so cold outside, with a little snow falling! My blue jacket is progressing and I hope to show it to you finished soon. After a while the bell rang and opening the door I had the great surprise to find my daughter, her husband and newborn son. The first visitor of the year! What a happiness, I am so blessed!

Christmas Handmade Ornaments

For many years I was preparing, together with a group of good friends, Christmas ornaments for charity sales. Nowadays, when I hang mine on the Christmas tree I remember the good moments we were sharing, doing such activities together...

This year I decided not to put anything fragile on the Christmas tree because we shall have our first grandson who is now 18 months and who will try to catch the toys! I recall some kind of dramas with my own children breaking every year beautiful ornaments, with the result that from those days only two or three are still "alive"!

Miscellaneous from Paris

Last month I was in Paris at my sister's house and I re-discovered some things I had done for her and her daughter Lea a long time ago, so I took pictures as a souvenir.

The yellow patchwork bag is the first one I sewed, all hand pieced and hand quilted, as I had not yet a sewing machine. The little red and blue bag comes from Provence in the south of France, from the Souleiado shop. I love this shop, they have such beautiful things and great traditional fabrics from this part of France.

As a matter of fact, this yellow fabric is as well typical from Provence.

This little doll is dressed with clothes knitted by my mother when we were children.

Some years ago, more than quilts, I enjoyed making dolls, such as this one.

I used also to make various objects for Christmas : decorative trees, hearts, stars...

My sister Dominique is a sculptor and this little sculpture is one of her works. Together, on the table are some parts of her collection of antique Barbotines.
